Chief Safety Officer offers career advice

As the Chief Safety Officer at the University of Utah, I was proud to take part in yesterday’s speed mentoring event. The rapid-fire sessions were part of National Mentoring Month and it was great to have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with so many talented students who are so determined to make their mark on the world.

This event, sponsored by our esteemed University of Utah alumni, took place at the Union Building and provided students with the unique opportunity to chat with deans, cabinet members, and distinguished alumni about a variety of topics including careers, school, networking, resources, and advice.

From my own personal experience, mentoring can be a powerful tool for personal and professional development. I certainly benefitted from mentors who took time and took an interest in me – not only as a student, but throughout the early stages of my career.

Mentoring provides U students with the opportunity to learn from the experiences and knowledge of others, and can greatly enhance their career prospects. Students gain valuable insight and advice from accomplished professionals in a wide range of fields.

As Chief Safety Officer, I am committed to promoting a safe and inclusive environment for all students and I believe this event will help achieve that goal by providing students with the tools and resources they need to succeed.

My thanks to our University of Utah Alumni association for sponsoring this event and for their continued support of our students.
